Objective:

The Consulting and Strategy Club of SIBM Pune hosted this session to help the MBA-I batch get their first real introduction to the world of consulting. The goal was to move beyond broad perceptions and give students a clear sense of what consulting involves, the skills it requires, and the career paths it can open up.

Details:
Held on 19^th June 2025, the session was titled “From Curiosity to Career: Cracking the Consulting Code.” It featured two industry professionals who offered varied perspectives based on their journey.
Mr. Abhishek Jha, Senior Consultant at PwC India, explained the basics of what consulting means in practice. He covered the major types of consulting and the differences between firms, while also sharing insights from his professional journey. Using real examples, he highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of the role.
Ms. Sonali Sehnaz, Management Consultant with Accenture Strategy and Solutions, focused on the skills and mindset needed to succeed in the field. She discussed qualities like adaptability, analytical thinking, teamwork, and communication, and explained their importance in everyday client work. Her advice on how to build a strong CV, along with reflections from her own career journey, gave students practical tips on how to prepare for consulting roles.

Outcome:

• Offered the batch a structured introduction to the consulting profession.
• Clarified the categories of consulting and the different types of firms students may encounter.
• Highlighted essential skills such as adaptability, analytical problem-solving, and effective communication.
• Provided actionable guidance on career preparation, including CV building.
