Legacy_2019

The Alumni Team hosted Legacy 2019 on 16th November at the SIU Auditorium. Legacy is an annual panel discussion that attempts to bring together the expertise of our alumni in various industries to share with the incumbent students. The theme for Legacy 2019 was "Building Brand Loyalty Through Emotions".

Mr. Prakash Wakankar, an Alumnus of SIBM Pune Batch of 1985, and presently the Head of International Operations (FES) and CEO of the Two-Wheeler Business at Mahindra delivered the keynote address through a talk about leveraging a wide breadth of emotions in marketing to engage and retain customers.

This was followed by declaration of results of Advantage- a competition that tested the creativity of participants to blend the old with the new. Students had to register in teams of 3-5 people, make an ad about an old product given to them and relate it to the new times.

The post-break session began with an engaging and fast-paced panel discussion where there was exchange of ideas about branding, the role of emotions and data, and customer loyalty. The panel was moderated by Mr. Sanjeev Balachandran, Worldwide Associate Brand Director at Novartis and Alumnus of the Batch of 2011.

The stellar panel consisted of the following Alumni from various industry domains:

  • Mr. Akshat Dwivedi from the Batch of 2005 - Category Marketing Manager: Male Grooming & E-Comm Channel Lead - Raymond FMCG
  • Ms. Aparnal Bhawal (Batch of 2006) - Vice President Marketing - Hindustan Times, HT Media
  • Ms. Richa Kumar Khetan (Batch of 2006) - Customer Success Lead, Digital Marketing - Adobe
  • Mr. Abhaya Sharma (Batch of 2008) - Country Marketing Manager - SK Products, Davidoff Cigarettes

The session was followed by questions from the students, which were explained in detail by the panel, which ensured a clarity about the topic among the students.

The event also attracted attention from media with newspapers such as the Hindustan Times publishing articles about it.

Overall, the event was a huge success and provided insights from diverse sectors about the topic to the students.
