Leadership Talk

Leadership Talk series is an Alumni Team initiative where senior industry leaders among our alumni visit campus to share their lessons and learnings on life, leadership and career success with the students. It is a voluntary exercise and any alumni can volunteer to take a guest lecture, and share their experiences and learnings. This is a year-round engagement activity and any alumnus who wishes to take a session for the students can connect with us on the Alumni Portal, as well as e-mail or call us. The initiative has seen great enthusiasm by the alumni who have lauded the team for the series.

The Alumni Team has conducted the following Leadership Talks so far this year:

The Alumni Team was delighted to virtually host Mr. Johnson Verghese, Managing Director at Fossil India and alumnus of SIBM Pune Batch of 1983 in our first Leadership Talk of the new academic year on 7 July 2020. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students as Mr. Verghese explained how communication and connecting with audience is no longer unidirectional and that everybody is a source and creator of content, given the opportunities they have due to technology. He emphasised that companies can get in and out of businesses by addressing the "why" of their existence.

We were elated to host Mr. Rohit Suri, Chief HR & Talent Officer - South Asia at GroupM, and a proud Alumnus of SIBM Pune Batch of 1998 in the Leadership Talk organised by Alumni team on 17 August 2020. The students witnessed the session with sincerity and enthusiasm and posed pertinent questions before the honourable guest. Mr. Suri left no stone unturned in explaining the various aspects of Media Planning, Media Buying and Data Analytics. He threw light on the evolution of HR and the clouded judgement that people hold regarding the same. He gave the students invaluable counsel on the importance of working on our EQ, learning from our failures and embracing change to stay relevant.
